Activity: ABC Animal Book: children with their parents take turns researching, writing and illustrating several pages compiling a book.

Materials: a
book with blank pages for writing and illustration, noted with
alphabet letters in the top corners (A - Z)
Procedure:
- Children take turns bringing home the ABC Book and are
allowed to work on it for two nights.
- While it's each family's turn, they:
- choose a letter
- agree on an animal that shares that particular beginning
letter
- research and list three facts that pertain to the
animal's behavior or habitat
- create an illusion
- write the name of an animal
- number their page in the book
- After each family has had one turn, begin the second and
possibly the third round of turns until the group has completed
the book
Variations:
- "Our Class" use information and materials from
"Star of the Week" to form a class book.
